The Great Minnesota Get-Together

The State Fair was lots of fun, as usual. We saw a few random performances, and walked all over the place to go to our favorite things. The weather was perfect for it this year... for once, it wasn't so hot! We had our favorite honey sunflower ice cream from the Bee Booth in the Agriculture building, which is what I have in this picture. Yum! Alfie got the cow-themed car of the Skyride in the picture too!

Also in the Agriculture building, we looked at the crop art. The "bad seed kitty" is particularly hilarious, I think. There were some really well done crop art portraits too... the one of Frank Sinatra was pretty amazing. We spent some time looking at the flower displays and we tried some Minnesota wines. The "Car Run Apple" wine from the Glacial Ridge Winery was our favorite.

We always go to the horse show. This year they are free, so there were not many empty seats. We saw jumping, draft horses (the picture below is one group of the six-horse hitch class), a few other judged classes, and a horse comedy act before we headed out.
