Our 4th of July was a bit unorthodox. We had a lovely morning of strawberry picking at the Pine Tree Apple Orchard - the strawberry crop is great this year. Then we came home and washed, cut, and froze lots and lots of strawberries. We kept some fresh ones in the refrigerator for a couple days for munching. They were so yummy!
The afternoon and evening of July 4, however, went downhill from there. We had planned to go to Stillwater for the St. Croix Valley Jazz Orchestra and fireworks, but instead spent many hours changing Dottie's bandage. There was much meowing. After the 8th bandage fell off, we gave up and drove to the emergency vet to buy an E-collar to keep her from licking her tail all weekend. Then things got rather hilarious - we got to see her walk backwards from the living room to the bedroom.
Yesterday the vet looked at her tail and said it's not healing like it should anymore, so we may be back to the possibility of amputating the tip. He put some stuff on it yesterday that is supposed to make it obvious today whether or not the tip has "died." So we go back today. We'll see what happens...
